The new IT rules have been issued to curb the blatant abuse and misuse of these platforms by anti-social elements and to remove content that might be abusive and threatening to the users and security and integrity of the nation. Three officers required as per the new IT rules include a compliance officer, a grievance officer, and a nodal officer. These three positions have to be filled by the companies by Indian residents. Previously, one of the companies had appointed a foreigner as a grievance officer which led to further flaring up of issues. The new IT rules have been a point of contention between Big Tech companies and the Indian Government. The most flared-up tussle has been between the Government of India and Twitter. The new IT rules issued by the government caused much ruckus with the social media companies, with Twitter facing the wrath of police as well. However, in a new positive turn of events, companies like Facebook, Instagram and Google have issued complianc...

Each operator provides 3.3TB data with most of its plans to the users which is more than enough for a large family. Airtel Xstream Fiber and JioFiber are the broadband arms of Bharti Airtel and Reliance Jio. Both the telcos have expanded their business in the fiber broadband market quite fast. Especially through the pandemic, the fixed-line broadband business for both the top telecom operators grew in India. However, there’s also Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) in the competition, whose biggest strength is the number of places and circles its services are available in. Internet speed tests should be regularly performed as it measures and reports various internet metrics including download speed, upload speed, ping and latency. A broadband internet connection or service consists of a number of elements that we need to keep a check on, including internet speed, latency and bandwidth. Amongst the three elements, internet speed is the most important aspect as internet service is all about the speed you get. In simple words, internet speed is the allocated bandwidth given to you based on your broadband internet plan. Furthermore, bandwidth is the amount of data you can use every second. Broadband Internet Speed Tests Should Be a Regular Practice Usually, a broadband internet plan is selected based on the speed we require from our internet connection. In order to make our money’s worth, we need to keep a constant check on the internet speed by using third party platforms. Image
A division of bench of Justices comprising of Tarlok Singh Chauhan and Chander Bhusan Barowalia stated that they were informed by the official of the BSNL that even though the telco has solar back up but the same is based on outdated and obsolete technology using a lead-acid battery. JioFiber Now Present in Over 12 Million Homes Despite Hurdles of Last Year

Image
As per the 44th Annual General Meeting of Reliance Industries’ announcement, Mukesh Ambani clarified that Reliance Jio added 2 million new premises to its platform. One of the most successful strategies of JioFiber has been to rope in apartments, colonies, and societies, thus getting subscribers in mass numbers. The attractiveness of the plans added with OTT subscriptions and other things have only added to the fire of increasing JioFiber connections. One of the strongest players and perhaps the most triumphant one in the wired broadband industry is Reliance Jio. If the prepaid data network revolution was not enough, Reliance Jio did the same thing with the wired broadband industry. Last year has been particularly good for the wired broadband companies because of the massive surge in data courtesy of work from home and online classes. Even the masses who did not rely on much data shifted to a permanent, home-based broadband connection to have some stability and Reliance Jio...

OnePlus 9T May Sport 108MP Hasselblad Sensor, Launch Expected in Q3 2021

Image
Apart from the month of launch, the latest info has also suggested that the handset could feature a Hasselblad quad-camera setup, much like the OnePlus 9 and 9 Pro, but, with a 108MP primary sensor. The leak also suggests that the device could run on ColorOS 11, which would fit in with the latest announcement from the company. Earlier this year, a report had suggested that  OnePlus , the company that has been at the front of multiple changes that might impact the company’s offerings down the line, might not offer a Pro model for the upcoming OnePlus 9T, which brings incremental upgrades to the regular number-series of devices that are launched in the first half of the year. In relation to this, during the launch of the last T-series smartphone, which was the OnePlus 8T, the brand had claimed that there was no reason to launch the OnePlus 8T Pro, owing to how the OnePlus 8 Pro, the generation’s flagship offered all sorts of premium-grade specifications, making the need for a ...

TRAI Tariff Order Update: Why You Might Have to Pay More for Your DTH

Image
The new HC ruling has upheld the tariff order which was put out by TRAI more than a year ago, but even this ruling by the High Court comes with a caveat in which it has struck down one particular point of the order related to pricing of the channels. The National Tariff Order, which arrived on the subscribers’ doorstep at the start of last year, brought a barrage of mixed reactions. If there was something after the beginning of the Set-Top-Box revolution, it was the NTO from TRAI which absolutely changed the way people were using DTH connections. The tariff order from TRAI changed the pricing of the channels, the base packs, and everything else. However, the TRAI order was challenged by many petitioners, mainly the broadcasting houses who were working hard to bring out content and barely trying to make their channels survive in the competition. The verdict by the High Court is now out on this one about who has stood the test of law. HC Favours TRAI Order and its Legality To...

FAU-G Gameplay Review: Not the PUBG Mobile Alternative Many Were Expecting

Image
FAU-G, which was announced last September was released yesterday on the Google Play Store FAU-G, which was announced last September, was released yesterday on the Google Play Store. We installed the game and played it a little to get the overall gist of it and check on the graphics. First thing’s first, this is not the alternative to PUBG Mobile that many thought it would be. Sure, the multiplayer mode isn’t here yet, but after playing the initial story mode of the game, we aren’t too excited to wait for the other modes. FAU-G Gameplay Review: Graphics The graphics were on-point looking at the first version of the game. Since it has been developed locally, it is a moment of immense proudness for everyone in India. However, even after decent graphics, the gameplay didn’t offer much to explore around the area. We expect the graphics to improve further as more versions of the game are rolled out, and along with that, we also expect a better frame rate support. If we compare th...

Realme Watch S Review: Prioritising Form Over Function

Image
Realme's Watch S is the company's second attempt at making a smartwatch after a disastrous first gen product. Has the company improved on its shortcomings? Find out here Realme as a company has had a quirky history, having debuted fairly recently in 2017 and catapulting to fame in the four years that have passed. Its smartphones have always been trading blows with Xiaomi, the segment leader which was one of the primary driving force for the sales that the company achieved. When the company announced that it would be launching a smartwatch, everyone expected them to launch a product worthy of competing with the budget smartwatch champions, Amazfit. What followed was a shocker, to say the least. The Realme Watch was riddled with bugs, offered a poorly built chassis and the overall price to value proposition was far from competitive. Fast forward to 2020, the company’s third year in the Indian market, with Realme deciding to give the smartwatch segment another try with...

Dish TV Keeps Tight Capex to Survive Pandemic Brunt, Lauds Watcho App Success

Image
The company has been largely successful in roping its bleeding finances thanks to a tightly held bottom line and controlling its capital expenditure. Dish TV relied mostly on the capex for internal cash flows. Dish TV finds its mention when we count the top ranks of the DTH players in the country. However, Dish TV is also sadly bearers of one of the most brutal financial beating due to the pandemic. It is one among the lot which has suffered due to the reduced disposable income of the people. With jobs being lost, the migration of people from one part of the country to another, and the economy taking a massive dip, people have resorted to holding their cash stacks closer to heart, and supposedly this has hit the finances of Dish TV dipping its fourth-quarter results. Dish TV Reducing Debt and Liabilities The consolidated subscription revenue of Dish TV for the last quarter as per the audited report hangs at Rs 685.2 crore, which was previously Rs 776.6 crore in the quarter ...
